“I’m finally ready to live as myself” says Kiara Mohamed as he raises fund to live as a black transgender man

TRANSGENDER: Kiara Mohamed hopes to be able to afford to fully transition to live as a man

KIARA MOHAMED is raising funds for surgery to live as a transgender man.

After experiencing ongoing and extreme dysphoria, he has decided to  receive gender affirming care for his physical and mental wellbeing.

Sharing his journey on Twitter, the dad-of-two announced: “I’m finally ready to live as myself, a Black trans man.”

“I want to get top surgery which will make me feel more at home and happy in my body,” he said. “I also want to have voice training to sound like myself as my current voice adds to the dysphoria that I experience.”

Kiara, an artist from Liverpool, also detailed that donations to his fundraiser will cover travel and aftercare expenses following his transition surgery.

Due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, he has decided to seek surgery privately, so his ability to live authentically will not be affected by NHS delays and he will be able to “live and flourish” as quickly as possible.

“I want to be the best dad that I can be, and I know taking this step would help me heal and continue to raise two amazing children,” he said.

With £1,000 raised since launching the fundraiser a day ago, Kiara added that any amount donated would “help with [my] gender dysphoria and ultimately [my] mental health and happiness.”
