Caribbean islands are expected to added to the Travel Green List today

The government are expected to announce more destinations to their travel green list today. Some Caribbean islands are expected to be added as holidaymakers anticipate which countries they can travel to for the summer holidays.

According to Paul Charles, Chief Executive of Travel Consultancy The PC Agency, he expects new additions to the list to include the Caribbean islands of Grenada and Antigua and the Greek islands of Zante, Rhodes and Kos, plus Malta and Finland.

People who return to the UK from countries on the green list, do not have to self-isolate and are only required to take one coronavirus test upon arrival.

But those entering the UK from amber list countries must quarantine at home for 10 days and take two Covid-19 tests. Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Belize, Barbados, Cubs, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago are all currently on the amber list.

Other popular European holiday destinations, Spain, Italy, France and Green are currently on the amber list. Portugal has been the only major European destination on the green list.

Countries can be moved between the three classifications which are red, amber and green.

Currently the green list does not contain any Caribbean or African destinations. Top tourist destinations in Africa will be hoping they are given green travel status today.

Ghana, Morocco, The Gambia, Egypt and Nigeria are all on the amber list at present.
