The highly anticipated launch event for the Jason Roberts Foundation’s Inspire 2 Achieve legacy exhibition occurred on Saturday, February 11, 2024, at Harlesden Library, NW10. This landmark occasion was attended by several esteemed football icons from Brent in Northwest London, signifying the beginning of a six-month run period for the Inspire 2 Achieve legacy program

The initiative served as a pivotal element within a national lottery-funded program, dedicated to delving into the lives of these esteemed local players who have made significant strides in their respective sport. Their journeys, resilience, upbringing environments, and educational backgrounds are meticulously documented and displayed. Central to the program’s ethos is the active involvement of young individuals, who will play a prominent role in the activities, gaining invaluable qualifications in media and exhibition curation as part of the project.

Local Talent

Former professional footballers, Dave Regis, and the Stein brothers along with the Mayor of Brent Orleen Hylton were present at the exhibition launch, accompanied by Libraries Manager Noman Ali.

A highlight of the day saw attendees being entertained by a “Match of the Day” themed performance expertly delivered by Hillside Performing Arts, which was treated to rapturous applause.

Dave Regis “Local interaction is important and key to development. There are several good London Clubs that have been good for Black players, Charlton Athletic is one such club, it is a family club, a great community hub, been amazing for players’ progression into the first team. After my playing career, I spent four years there as Head of Education and Welfare”.
