IN A YouTube video, Nicole Thea’s partner Jeffery Frimpong has alluded to the cause of her death.

Frimpong, who is more widely known as Global Boga suggested that a “silly mistake” had cost Thea her life.

He also shared that an ambulance had not arrived promptly for the couple when they called.

Later on in the video, Frimpong suggested that the “wrong unit” was sent, though it is unclear whether this was in reference to the ambulance callout.

He added that it had taken medical professionals three months to explain circumstances surrounding Nicole Thea’s passing.

Visibly upset, the musician and dancer was still struggling to come to terms with his partner’s passing.

Advice for expecting couples

Though he felt unable to share the details of what happened on the day she died, he said he wanted to raise awareness for other families expecting children.

He has warned pregnant people “to be vigilant” and crosscheck everything at appointments.

He said the couple had attended many hospital checks, but it was not made apparent that they should be watching out for anything.

Evidently distressed, he said: “Nicole could have lived.

“My wife could have lived and my son could have lived as well.”

Speculation

There was much online speculation when popular YouTuber and dancer Thea passed away.

Frimpong shut down rumours that she had died of a heart attack. Previously, the family has also shared that she did not die during childbirth.

Thea had shared her pregnancy journey with her followers. Shortly before her passing, she shared a video called The worst thing about my pregnancy.

In that video, she shared that she “felt like she was dying.”

Looking forward

Frimpong said that he was looking for legal support as he sought justice for Thea.

He added: “They have crushed everything.”

“My soul will not rest because this is more than damage.

“The kind of damage they have caused, it’s not something that money can replace.”

Nicole Thea passed away while pregnant on the 11th of July.

Her tragic passing came as shocking statistics about Black women’s maternal mortality rate became more widely known.

Currently the NHS has no target to tackle this.

Recently, it was also revealed that almost 100 NHS trusts have no declared Black very senior managers.

It is possible that she had a heart attack and it Wasn’t anything that was done wrong. Why always blame someone, tragic events happen.

You don’t know the full story. I followed her on youtube and each time she told her midwife she was having breathing problems she dismissed it as “normal”. She should have been referred to hospital checks.

It CAN BE normal for some women to experience breathlessness in pregnancy as the baby is growing as it is squashing the organs. However, in this situation, if a woman came to her antenatal appointment complaining about breathlessness on several occasions then I would refer the woman to maternity triage/a&e to be seen by a Dr, check observations, fetal wellbeing, ECG etc to exclude any serious conditions.
Breathlessness can also be a sign of pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung) and cardiomyopathy (research this) which can first be diagnosed in pregnancy. Also, look out for signs such as oedema (swelling) AND does lying down make the breathlessness worse? – These are other signs of cardiomyopathy. Although these conditions are very rare, it is important to be aware of as it may save a life.
I always like my clients to feel empowered about their health and reassure them when I can but they know their bodies better than me. If you suspect something is wrong then go to maternity triage/a&e (depending on the hospital/ NHS Trust). Make sure at your booking appointment, and all antenatal appointments your midwife is signposting you where to go for emergencies and concerns which is open 24/7.
Women, if you are pregnant please educate yourselves if you are concerned and not reassured by what the midwife/Dr has told you.
Check the national guidelines (NICE Guidelines), NHS, Tommy’s, Birthrights. These are some of the trusted websites I refer to my clients so they can feel empowered in their health and decision making.
If you have spoken to an obstetrician or midwife and feel concerned about the advice they have given you, make sure they document the discussion in their notes as evidence in the rare event of something going wrong. As a midwife, I ask you to arm yourselves with the knowledge on pregnancy, childbirth, and complications that may arise.

Nicole doesn’t deserve this. No one does. The doctors failed her and I can’t help but thing we ALL KNOW why. Race shouldn’t ever factor into one’s health, yet in white supremacist america, it fucking does for no fucking reason at all.
