CONTROVERSIAL TV host Sir Trevor Phillips has claimed Meghan Markle had to learn to be Black and was wrong to fret about royal speculation over the colour of her baby.

Speaking on Piers Morgan’s TalkTV show, Phillips criticised Meghan as being naive and overly sensitive, to the delight of Morgan.

Phillips, who had his Labour membership suspended over alleged Islamophobia before being readmitted, slammed Meghan and said “race never really played a part” in her treatment.

He said: “I think people mistake who Meghan Markle is. She herself said that until she became ‘this princess’, she never regarded herself particularly as Black. And that’s understandable.

“She grew up in Los Angeles, in the most wealthy Black enclave anywhere in the United States, Park View, Windsor Hill. She went to a private Roman Catholic school. And in a sense race was never really part of her background.

“And actually you knew, anyone who comes from a Black family knew that this was not her territory. When she supposedly made this incendiary claim about somebody asking what colour Archie’s skin colour will be; well actually every Black family…”

At this point Morgan chimes in: “Of course!” Phillips continued: “…you know there’s somebody coming, it’s what you’re speculating about. White people, it’s what colour hair…”

Morgan again intervenes: “Particularly in a family where one parent is white and one parent is Black!”

Phillips added: “But the point I really want to make about Meghan Markle is, she had to learn to be Black on the job, as it were. And I think she made a bit of a mess of it.”

Phillips was previously accused of running the old Commission for Racial Equality into the ground before it was abolished, and subsequently presiding over a dysfunctional Equality and Human Rights Commission, which he also chaired.

His attack on Meghan was lapped up by Morgan, who famously walked out as a presenter on ITV’s Good Morning Britain when the weatherman Alex Beresford accused Morgan of holding a longstanding grudge against her due to past rebuff.

Author Nels Abbey responded on Twitter: “In ’15 I wrote a piece called ‘The Miseducation Of Trevor Phillips’ [in The Voice], from then till now he has just gotten worse. I actually pity Trevor Phillips. He is smart enough to know he is not special (to racists) but too proud to accept he is just useful to them.”

Mentoring charity chief Sayce Holmes-Lewis added: “Seems like you learned to be black in the exact same way Trevor… you do not represent us.”

Sir Trevor Philips, who has severely damaged His Majesty’s African, and African-Caribbean heritage Subjects, by his obsequious in agreeing with Sir Tony Blair’s as Labour’s leader and Her Majesty’s Prime Minister, to abolish the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) in 2006; which Sir Trevor Phillips was the Chairman.

The CRE was a statutory-funded body that provided advocacy and judicial assistance to England’s African-heritage men and women to overcome employer skin-colour segregation.

Nevertheless, Sir Trevor Phillip’s observation regarding Mrs Meghan Windsor are correct.

Trevor Phillips has been talking to Piers Morgan? How low can you go! He may think that notoriety and/or topping up his bank balance is more important than selling out your own race. Or even thinking he’s being ‘relevant’ somehow. He’s upset me, and made me feel disappointed and unimportant too many times now, & that’s unforgiveable.

Once again, I’m disappointed by certain Black men (Phillips and Artwell).

If race had no part to play in Meghan treatment kindly explain the Daily Mail’s “almost straight outta Compton” article. Also kindly explain why double-standards were applied to her with us being told that she broke Royal protocol even while there’s pictures in the public domain showing the other members of the British Royal Family doing the same things.

Also, I didn’t know that you could/need “learn to be black” – you’re either black or you’re not.

Maybe Trevor should educate us on how to be black people.
