A MISSING teenage girl has been found “safe and well” after vanishing for nearly a week.

Carmelle Hepi, 13, who had travelled alone to London from Barnsley, was found by officers in the afternoon on 29 June at an address in south west London.

She was believed to have attended a birthday party in Watling Street in Peckham last weekend and reportedly left in a car with a group of people in a car around 11pm.

Her reappearance comes after a fast-paced inquiry by specialist detectives which involved more than 50 investigators “working around the clock” to find the missing schoolgirl.

Detectives worked closely with South Yorkshire Police, scouring hours of CCTV and following numerous other leads.

Fears were continuing to grow after it emerged four men had been arrested in connection with the investigation into Carmelle’s disappearance.

One remains in custody and the other three have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Supt Gabriel Cameron, South West Command, said:“We are delighted that Carmelle has been found safe and well and will soon be reunited with her family.

“The scale of this operation reflects our serious concerns about her welfare.

“This is an example of how when the Met works as a team and with others we can achieve a great result.”

Very glad to hear she has been found!!

It raises serious questions about the judgment of the party organisers though. Surely they would know not to invite a 13 year old child to travel across the country unaccompanied. And who was driving her around in a car at 11 pm?
