Chris Kaba shooting: Martyn Blake named as officer accused of murder

The police officer was named after judge lifted an anonymity order

A MET  Police firearms officer charged with the murder of Chris Kaba has been named as Martyn Blake following a judge’s decision to lift an anonymity order.

Kaba, 24, died in September 2022 in Streatham, south London, after a single gunshot wound sustained during a Met operation.

Blake’s trial was start on October . He has pleaded not-guilty.


He was charged with murder in September of last year, but an anonymity order prevented his identify from being revealed. Until now, he has been referred to as NX121.

Following challenges from a number of media organisations Judge Mark Lucraft reversed the order.

    Voice newspaper readers of African-heritage need to publicly support the persecution of this Met Police Constable, responsible for the needless death of the Congolese-heritage Mr Chris Kaba.
