KENYA IS set to end visa requirements for all African nationals.
The Kenyan president William Ruto has announced that he plans to remove all of visa requirements for all African visitors by the end of this year.
According to a BBC report, while speaking at an international conference, President Ruto such restrictions are counterproductive.
He said: “When people cannot travel, businesspeople cannot travel, entrepreneurs cannot travel, we all become net losers.
“Let me say this: As Kenya, by the end of this year, no African will be required to have a visa to come to Kenya,” he said to loud applause from those attending the conference in Congo-Brazzaville.
“Our children form this continent should not be locked in borders in Europe and also be locked in borders in Africa.”
President Ruto, said the visa restrictions have adverse impacts on businesses, entrepreneurs, and travellers.
Kenya will join The Gambia, Benin and the Seychelles who permit entry to all African citizens without a visa, following an African Union-backed report.
President Ruto also stressed the importance of ensuring the next generation of African youth are free to travel their own continent.
The African Union (AU) has tried for a long time to create visa-free travel across Africa, with some regional agreements in place.
However, the move towards total unrestricted travel has been slow.

This could be a signal for England’s African-heritage nationals to seriously consider returning to our African origins.
