THE WEST Indies, who are taking a 50% pay cut for their three Test tour of England in July, will be keen to retain the Wisden Trophy that they won 3-1 in the Caribbean last year.

It was confirmed that the Windies’ international summer will provisionally take place behind closed doors in July, with the contingent due to arrive in England on June 9.

The Windies’ will be based at Lancashire’s Old Trafford ground in Manchester on arrival, for initial quarantine and training, which like Hampshire’s Ageas Bowl in Southampton is a bio-secure venue with hotels on site.

The series is set to kick off in Southampton on July 8, followed by a pair of Tests in Manchester on July 16 and July 24 respectively.

Originally the Windies were due to compete for the Wisden Trophy with a trio of Tests this month (June 4 – 29) at Surrey’s Kia Oval in London, Warwickshire’s Edgbaston ground in Birmingham and conclude at the home of cricket – Middlesex’s Lord’s in London – but these matches were postponed because of the on-going coronavirus pandemic.
