DAYTIME TV programme Loose Women has won the coveted Best Daytime Programme at the Royal Television Society Awards.

The popular ITV show was nominated alongside BBC’s The Bidding Room and Channel 4’s Bake Off and was recognised by the RTS Awards as programmes and performances that had made a positive contribution to the industry and UK viewers.

The award comes after Loose Women’s history making programmed during Black History Month last year as the RTS Awards considered that they featured its first ever all-black panel in the show’s 21-year-history upon receiving the award.

Panelists Charlene White, Judi Love, Brenda Edwards and Kelle Bryan were all a part of the landmark programme where they shared personal stories among each other and the viewers.

Campaigner Baroness Doreen Lawrence also featured as a virtual guest on the episode that turned into a rating hit.

The Loose Women programme has now been lauded as setting the agenda for future representation on UK television.

Speaking to ITV on their recent win, Charlene White said: “I’m very proud of all of us: the entire Loose presenting team, every single one of our off-screen team, the viewers, and of course those who paved the way. For many viewers it was an emotional moment to see four black women on their screens, a sentiment that was shared amongst all of us that day.”

Managing Director, ITV Daytime, Emma Gormley said: “I am really proud of Loose Women from all of our brilliant panellists to those that work behind the scenes. For this particular show which featured during Black History Month to win this prestigious award is of special significance to us all and we are delighted.”

Was never a fan of loose women but since Charlene has been anchor I watch. I love the all black panel lots of info and laughs. I am a white British woman but don’t watch when Jane Moore or Ruth langsford are on they’re to opinionated.
