AN 11-YEAR-old boy is set to launch the world’s first hip hop and self-development event to uplift Black children through music and positive affirmations.

Makai Williams, 11, from Hackney, east London, has created The Notorious G.I.G Children’s Block Party that aims to inspire a generation through the world’s first hip hop, Afrobeats, and self-development event for children under 12.

The schoolboy wants to provide a transformative experience for young people, while addressing the growing concerns that negative music influences can contribute to street crime and low self-esteem.

“I wanted to create an event that would inspire my friends and encourage them to embrace positive influences,” said Makai.

“The Notorious G.I.G is not just a party; it’s a platform for personal growth, where we can celebrate our talents, build resilience, and uplift one another.”

Makai, said he noticed that his peers were being exposed to music with negative themes, which often resulted in undesirable outcomes and wanted to make a difference.

All music played at Makai’s event will be clean, progressive and uplifting, promoting life and love.

The event, will also combine self-development activities, workshops, inspiring special guests and a safe space for children and their families to grow and express themselves positively.

The block party has already won the support of Hackney Council, The Mentoring Lab, local DBS youth workers and is being supported by Award Winning Charity Manhood Academy and Womanhood Academy.

Father’s support

His idea has also been welcomed by his proud father, Davis Williams.

Speaking to The Voice, Mr Williams said: “With summer holidays looming, I know parents like me will be looking for positive activities for our children to attend.

The Notorious GIG Children’s Block Party offers the perfect opportunity to not only have an absolute blast but also to engage in activities that promote personal growth, confidence, and creativity.”

Mr Williams is the founder of the Manhood Academy Global (MAG) – a registered charity with a global reach that is committed to providing Black children with life-changing transformation opportunities.

He is urging the community to use the summer holidays to engage in positive community events that can help build self-confidence in the next generation.

He said: “It’s a chance for kids to make new friends, explore their passions, and create unforgettable memories. Join us and let’s make this summer one filled with joy, inspiration, and endless possibilities for our little ones.”
